THE BRIEF
Hotel Lysnes wanted one suite that people would book for the dark, not the room.
WHAT WE BUILT
A single winter suite in a cabin, lit only from inside, with a frame on the snow outside.

THE STORY
The brief
In December the sun barely rises in Nordland. Lysnes wanted to sell that, rather than apologise for it.
What we built
We rebuilt the inside of an old cabin around warm, low light and left the outside exactly as it was. A frame stands on the snow in front, facing the door, so the first thing a guest sees is their own lit window through it.
What happened
The suite is booked every winter night for the next two seasons. Guests are asked to leave the outside lights off.
