THE BRIEF

Casa Ocre wanted to show forty vessels in the light they were fired to match.

WHAT WE BUILT

A nine-minute sunset exhibition in the desert, with plinths cast from the local sand.

Forty clay vessels placed in the desert for one sunset, then packed away. The show lasted nine minutes.

THE STORY

The brief

Casa Ocre’s glazes are mixed to match one colour: the rock at sunset. A gallery wall could never show that.

What we built

Forty plinths cast from the sand around them, set in a loose line toward a single frame. We timed the opening to the last nine minutes of direct sun.

What happened

Sixty guests, one photographer, no electric light. Every piece was sold before the sun went down.
