The brief

Tovah’s songs are quiet. Big stages swallowed them. She asked for a set that would make a two-thousand-seat hall feel like a kitchen.

What we built

A white wall, a single tungsten lamp on a slow dimmer and a frame at the lip of the stage. The lamp is the only light for the whole show.

What happened

The set packs into one van and builds in ninety minutes. It has now done forty nights in twelve cities.
