THE BRIEF

Maison Ferre asked for a runway that looked like it had always been there.

(02)

WHAT WE BUILT

A single-direction runway through a working palm house, with a frame as the models’ entrance.

A show staged in a working palm house. The runway was the old tiled path; the models walked out of the ferns.

THE STORY

The brief

The spring collection was printed with ferns. The team did not want a set that looked like a set, so we went looking for a building that already had the look.

What we built

We kept the palm house as it was, down to the misting schedule. The only addition was a bronze frame at the far end of the tiled path. Models stepped through it, walked the length of the house, and left by the side door.

Seating was one row on either side of the path, with nothing higher than the lowest leaves.

What happened

The show ran fourteen minutes. The frame stayed on for a month afterwards, and the garden kept it for their summer evenings.
